The most effective diet its yours!
Every month a new diet is born almost. Result, there is no longer there and even scientists are struggling to prove which ones are most effective for weight loss. So what about it? What is THE plan to be followed, one that will make you really lose weight?
What is the most effective diet?
As many proclaim to you right away, no miracle diet will not make you lose more weight than another.
What matters is to eat less starting from your own habits to stick out over the length of years.
It is therefore also a good dose of motivation and perseverance. In a way, there are as many plans as there are people who want to lose weight, since the effective regime will be yours, customized to your dietary inclinations, personal and cultural.
Here is the demonstration with the largest study on this topic.
Overall, plans that do not take health risk can be grouped into four categories according to their protein (meat, fish, eggs, cheese), lipids (fats) and carbohydrates (sugars and sugar slow).
20%fat, 15% protein and 65% carbohydrate (ie a diet low in fat and moderate protein)
20%, 25% and 55% (diet low in fat and high in protein)
15%, 40% and 45% (high fat diet and moderate protein)
25%, 30% and 35% (high fat and protein diet.(
800 volunteers with obesity tested one of these 4 types of arrangements.
Whatever the plan, the total caloric intake was around 2000 kcal, only varying the distribution between the different food categories.
After a more or less regular attendance for two full years, no regime has proved better than another, and their effectiveness has been very moderate.
Indeed, the weight loss is roughly the same regardless of the type of plan, whether poor or rich in carbohydrates, fats and proteins. This weight loss was about 6 pounds after six months and only 3 kg after 2 years!
Plan: First listen to your common sense!
Multiply the daily efforts to dieting to ultimately lose only 2 kg in two years is not worth the candle, it is very disappointing.
But then what is the solution to lose weight?
Listen to your common sense. It is for you to develop your own plan.
How? Respecting preferences, natural inclinations and habits, with the aim to reduce your calorie intake a bit, they should be moderate.
No need to starve yourself, you must learn to eat less, gradually, so eat better, without change to a completely different diet. And no matter finally that this decrease relates to proteins, lipids or carbohydrates.
Of course, you can consult a dietician or nutritionist to help you. And then to track and encourage you. Indeed, the study cited above also shows that more participation in information sessions organized group was active, reflecting the motivation, more weight loss was significant.

New Look New Site New Book but its still all the same I promise

Hey! What happened to A Year of Slow Cooking?
its here! its all right here!
{if you are reading this in a reader or through email, none of this is going to make any sense. I urge you to click through to the main site to see what Im talking about}
Welcome to the great-big-huge-honking site redesign! Its new. Its different. But all of your favorite (and even your not-so-favorite) recipes are all here, and all of your bookmarks will continue to work forever and ever.
Ive wanted to tie my different writing endeavors together for quite a while now, and Jennette Fulda, of Make My Blog Pretty figured it out.
Because she is wonderful.
Im still playing around with the features and learning the ins and outs of the software (Im a slow learner) but I couldnt be happier.
I hope you enjoy the new design and the new features in the header. Theres also a brand new home page thats pretty cool (it moves! and has random generator thingies!) Youll find links to pretty much anything I could think of that you might want/need, and theres a shiny new downloadable page with free stuff on it.
Just for you.
This website makeover is in honor of my new book: Totally Together: Shortcuts to an Organized Life
I began writing this book when my oldest child was a baby---over nine years ago. I was running a drop-in childcare center at the local courthouse and my little one came to work with me every day. I was listening to time management seminars on tape while I worked, and kept thinking that there should be a day timer for moms. Not a blank one--- those already existed--- I wanted someone to TELL me what to do.
I wanted someone (or thing) to tell me to change the sheets, to disinfect the remote controls, to wipe down the blinds, and to call my mom. I wanted to be reminded to do a breast self-exam and to make dental appointments for me and the family. I wanted someone to walk me through the Winter Holiday months (in a non-preachy or judgmental way).
I wanted encouragement. And someone to tell me I was doing a good job, even when I was sleep-deprived and had spit-up in my hair.
So I emailed the Franklin Covey company and told them that they should make a planner for moms. I corresponded back and forth with their development department a few times before I was kind of blown off (they sent me a 15% off coupon and a form letter).
I then did what any good red-blooded American would do. I got mad and made one of my very own.
This book has had a rather long and difficult pregnancy. It took me 2 years for me to find and secure a literary agent, then another 3 years for her to find a publisher (Ive got an awfully nice collection of reject letters).
And then that publisher backed out (due to the economy) after it was ready to go to print.
(years 6 and 7)
and it took another year for me to find a new publisher.
(year 8)
meanwhile, the crockpot thing was taking on a life of its own, for which I am eternally grateful, because if it wasnt for the crockpot thing, this book wouldnt have come to life.
but its here. And its because of you.
Thank you.
I really hope you enjoy it.
reprinted from the Introduction:
"There is just too much to do and nowhere near enough time to do it!" All over the world women are faced with the daily dilemma of trying to cram more and more into an already over-crowded schedule. Who has time for a monthly breast self-exam when there is weekly dusting and vacuuming, daily meal planning, hourly diapers to change, a baby to nurse, and a sibling argument to referee every five to ten minutes? How on earth can moms take the time to exercise and floss when showering daily is a luxury in which many dont indulge?
As a new mom I found myself wishing for some sort of guide that laid everything out. Some sort of system that reminded me to make dental appointments for everyone in the family every six months. A planner to help with the daily, weekly, and monthly chores so nothing was forgotten. A little bird to whisper in my ear that its time to update the baby book and family scrapbook. A pat on the back and a friendly nudge to take a long bath and take the time to shave my legs properly.
I came up with Totally Together: Shortcuts to an Organized Life as a way to help me as I waded through the vast number of "shoulds" and "shouldnts" that I came across in parenting, housekeeping, and self-help books and magazines. Totally Together gave me the permission and tools I needed to whip through the daily chores and minutiae and move on to what I really wanted to do: spend time with my family and enjoy living life. My hope is that your Totally Together journal will be of help to you and your family, too.
Have a fantastic day. I hope you enjoy the new site, and thank you deeply for your love and support-- it means so very much. xoxo steph

Is Isopropyl Alcohol Rubbing Alcohol Its Uses in daily Life
Is Isopropyl Alcohol Rubbing Alcohol ?

Rubbing alcohol, USP/ Surgical soul, B.P. is a fluid arranged and utilized principally for topical application. It is readied from an unique denatured alcohol arrangement and contains more or less 70 percent by volume of concentrated ethanol (ethyl alcohol) or isopropyl alcohol (propan-2-ol).
Uses of Rubbing Alcohol
As an Antiseptic
Isopropyl alcohol is often used as an antiseptic, and most of the doctors use it to disinfect your skin before injections to kill surface bacteria.
As an Astringent
It can shrink or tighten your body tissues, like the pores in your skin, when they are applied topically. It helps to give your skin a smoother look and make pores less visible. Astringents also help to stop bleeding in minor cuts and scrapes by tightening up the capillaries that are losing blood.

As Pain Killer for Muscle Aches
It can be rubbed over the surface of aching muscles or painful joints to help reduce pain and swelling. Alcohol is an effective Pain Killer because it acts as a minor irritant to the skin increasing circulation and blood flow to the area. This increased circulation helps to ease pain and inflammation.
Expel hair splash from mirrors
When you are spritzing your head with hair splash, some of it inescapably winds up on the mirror. A fast wipe with rubbing alcohol will whisk away that sticky buildup and leave your mirror shimmering clean.
Clean venetian blinds
Rubbing alcohol makes a marvelous showing of cleaning the supports of venetian blinds. To make brisk work of the occupation, wrap a level device — a spatula or perhaps a 6-inch (15-centimeter) drywall blade — in fabric and secure with an elastic band. Plunge in alcohol and go to work.
Keep windows shining and frost free
Do your windows ice up in the wintertime? Wash them with a mixture of 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol and1 liter water to stop ice freezing on the glass. Clean the windows with daily paper after you wash them to make them sparkle.
Anticipate ring around the neckline
To keep your neck from recoloring your shirt neckline, wipe your neck with rubbing alcohol every morning before you dress. Feels great as well.
Clean your telephone
Is your telephone getting a bit dingy? Wipe it down with rubbing alcohol. Itll uproot the grime and sterilize the telephone in the meantime.
Uproot ink stains
Did you get ink on your most loved shirt or dress? Soak the spot in rubbing alcohol for a couple of minutes before putting the piece of clothing in the clothes washer.
Erase permanent markers
Rubbing Alcohol can remove the marks the permanent marker very easily. Just put some rubbing alcohol on the mark for a few seconds and then wipe it. Do it twice or thrice will completely remove it from most of the surfaces like plastic laminates and tiles.
Uproot puppy ticks
Ticks detest the taste of rubbing alcohol as much as they cherish the taste of your puppy. Before you pull a tick off Fido, touch the critter with rubbing alcohol to make it slacken its grasp. At that point get the tick as near to the puppys skin as you can and haul it straight out. Spot again with alcohol to sanitize the injury. This chips away at individuals as well.
Get rid of fruit flies
Fruit flies dont like the smell of rubbing alcohol. If you spray the rubbing alcohol using an empty perfume bottle, then it will do the work. However its less effective compared to some insecticide but its safer, as rubbing alcohol is not as poisonous as insecticide.
Make a shapeable ice pack
The issue with ice packs is they wont adjust to the state of the harmed body part. Make a slushy, comparable pack by blending 1 section rubbing alcohol with 3 sections water in a closing toward oneself plastic sack. Whenever that sore knee misbehaves, wrap the sack of slush in a fabric and apply it to the zone.
Clean washroom installations
Simply venture into the prescription bureau whenever you have to clean chrome lavatory installations. Organic - Is it Worth It?
In April I wrote about organic fruits and vegetables and if they are worth the extra money. Although many of us go ahead and spend more for organic foods to avoid consuming pesticide residues, we are less conscious of other ways that we expose ourselves to harmful chemicals.
Think about how many products we use in or on our bodies? Shampoo, toothpaste, lotion, lip balm, shaving cream, tampons, mouth wash - and the list goes on and on. Even licking an envelope exposes you to whatever happens to be in the glue! So today, because its a big shopping day, Im going to share a few of my favorite products that I feel safe using on my body.
iLike and Juice Beauty Organic Skin Care Products
One of the best things I did for myself this year was allow myself to be pampered. I started going to Amazing Face Sebastopol, where I got hooked on the most pleasurable facials in the world by Marianne Allred, the owner of the establishment. Besides knowing how to pamper, she really understands skin care products and only uses those with safe, organic ingredients. I was turned on to two product lines that she uses, which I now cannot live without! One is iLike and the other is Juice Beauty.
The iLike (pronounced "ey-lee-kay) products are so fresh and natural, you feel like they just came out of your blender! Ingredients for their products are grown and harvested in the Carpathian region of Hungary. My favorite product of theirs is the Rosehip Exfoliator but, honestly, every one of their products that I have tried has been amazing. Of course its best to support your local businesses so try to find this product locally. If you live in or near Sebastopol, you can pick these up at Amazing Face Sebastopol. If you cannot find them locally, try sites like Skinbotanica - they carry the full line of iLike products.

I also fell in love with Juice Beauty, my favorite products being their Stem Cellular Repair products as well as their reflecting gloss lip color. Their moisturizer smells like fresh citrus and you can almost feel it "eating up" the free radicals on your skin! I use the Stem Cellular Repair Moisturizer , Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Serum and the Stem Cellular Repair Eye Treatment. In Sebastopol, you can buy Juice Beauty products at Amazing Face Sebastopol.

Dry Shampoo - Lulu Organics
OK, I admit it. Some days I just dont want to wash my hair. In fact, there are many days like that. Especially in the winter when its cold and rainy. So being able to shake a little hair powder in my hand, rub it through my hair for a few seconds and be done for the day is a blessing!
Dry shampoos arent new but they are usually made with talc. Turns out that there are serious concerns that talc can be carcinogenic. I shutter to think how I freely powdered my babies bottoms with talcum powder without even thinking about that!
Out of this concern, my daughter, Linda Aldredge, created Lulu Organics and developed a "talc free" hair powder . This dry shampoo comes in 4 delicious scents, Lavender and Clary Sage, Jasmine, Patchouli and Amber, and Vetiver and Black Pepper. They come in Full 4 oz bottles which can last a long time so they are worth the $30 price or if you want to try a few different scents, you can get the 1 oz travel size which are offered in both Lavender and Jasmine. New York Magazine listed this product in The Gift Guide 2011 - Stocking Stuffer Ideas. It was also listed as the number 1 hair powder in the Zoe Report. Follow Lulu Organics on Facebook.

Dont Forget about those Lips!
I am especially worried about products that go on my lips. After all, we lick our lips all day long so whatever is on them, ends up in our body. A friend of mine whose wife suffered from celiac, went on a strict gluten free diet. When she found no relief, they discovered there was gluten in her lipstick! So we should worry about the ingredients in our lip products.
My two favorite lip products are Juice Beauty Reflecting Gloss and Lulu Organics Lip Balm.
